Surfacing Assumptions & Testing through Interviews
Puicón-Pérez and the team used first-hand experiences and secondary research to articulate initial assumptions about EPD collaboration, identifying four categories: culture, decisions, priorities, and communications.
Puicón-Pérez and the team collaborated on a set of standardized interview questions to help test and validate their assumptions. Each domain team then interviewed SMEs in Engineering, Product, and Design about pain points and tools used. In total, the team interviewed 3 Senior Product Engineers, 3 Senior Product Managers, 3 Senior Product Designers, and 2 Entry-level Designers to capture diverse perspectives.
Three of the four original assumptions were validated. In addition, another critical element in collaboration emerged: play/fun.
